Iced Buns

An iced bun is a bun roll glazed on the top with icing sugar, usually white or pink.

In some bakeries these are decorated as ballet slippers shape.


INGREDIENTS

Basic bun dough (see my recipe)
egg wash
fondant or water icing, for decorating


METHOD

  1. Divide the basic bun dough into four pieces.
  2. Mould into balls, then into 10cm lenghts.
  3. Place on a greased baking sheet, cover and allow to prove for at least 15-20 minutes.
  4. Before putting them in the oven, brush the top of each bun with egg wash.
  5. Bake in a hot over at 220'c for 15-20 minutes.
  6. When cooled, glaze the top of each bun with fondant or water icing.
